Dodge the Shredder
a talk by Emilia Telese

Mar 2013

For the last in our series of Artist Professional Development talks we invited Sussex based artist and writer Emilia Telese to join us at Reading's OpenHand OpenSpace Studios for a wonderful, information packed afternoon. She discussed ways to source project funding beyond just the Arts Council England programme and shared with us her 'Golden rules of proposal making' including many techniques and tools she has used successfully in 15 years of fund raising for performances, installations, and gallery based projects.

Establishing a Relationship with Galleries
a talk by Jonathan Parsons

Feb 2013

Artists from across the region met at New Greenham Arts, Newbury to hear an informative and inspiring talk by Surrey based artist, writer and lecturer Jonathan Parsons, organised by ReOrsa. We learned of the oligarchy that is the contemporary art scene and ways to present ourselves and our work more effectively. The driving force for artists is the passion to make work, he reiterated, but if you want to establish relationships that may open doors its necessary to get the work seen and your name known.

Pop-Up Gallery - Art on Paper

Dec 2012

Eight artists from the region came together to put on a four day exhibition and sale of original art on paper which included prints, drawings, collage and paintings. The event organised and sponsored by ReOrsa was made possible by the availability of a vacant shop in Princess Square - Bracknell town centre, which was temporarily transformed into a contemporary art gallery.

Student Internship

July - Dec 2012

We are very pleased to be able to sponsor an internship funded by Erasmus, the European Commission's leading educational exchange programme for higher education. ReOrsa's internship provides MA student Barbara Gorska from Krakow, Poland with use of a free studio space along with informal mentoring and introductions into the Berkshire visual arts community.

Bracknell in Bloom

June - Aug 2012

Supporting Bracknell's bid for another medal in the Britain in Bloom competition we installed a display of floral and vegetable drawings by Tonia Maddison and Janet Curley Cannon in a vacant shop window along the path the judges would follow. We are proud to say Bracknell won it's 3rd consecutive gold medal this year.

A new Blog site

March 2012

We have a new outlet for spreading the word about our activities and those of our fellow regional artists with a blog written by Janet Curley Cannon, artist and ReOrsa founder. After numerous discussions about the lack of reporting of art events in the Berkshire area we decided we should do something about it. Janet has written for 'Artists and Illustrators' and 'Printmaking Today' and has an art history degree specialising in modern and contemporary art. The blog will have regular updates of art news, reviews, and commentary on what's happening in our region, so make sure and send us your exhibition invites and opportunities listings!
